Sweeten it with Honey

Are you looking for an alternative to using sugar? Then why not try honey! Honey has a variety of uses, and not all of them are used for cooking.

Honey can be used in preserving, jelly making, syrup making and canning. Using honey instead of sugar, intensifies the flavor of the fruit.

Unlike sugar, honey has a variety of flavors. The different flavors come from flowers such as wild berries, clover, alfalfa and other types of wild flowers. Goldenrod and Asters give the honey a darker color and different taste; however, the lighter color honey is better for cooking.

Aside from cooking, honey is sometimes used as the center for golf balls and in certain types of antifreeze. So even though the bees are not around through the cold winter months, the honey they produce is used all year long.
